You might hear a radio song or someone else singing, and you can’t get it out of your head. This is known as an earworm (耳虫), a song or a tune (曲调) that stays in your head for a long time after you have heard it.    1    Don’t worry. There are some useful ways to get that song or tune out of our minds.

Another way is to listen to a different song.    4    “It’s nearly impossible to have two songs in your head at the same time,” music expert Kelly J. says, “because it’s too much for our brains!”

If those things don’t work, Kelly suggests one more way. She says you could chew gum (嚼口香糖). This keeps your mouth busy and may “kill” the earworm.    5    It is because you might end up having an even harder time trying to get the earworm out of your head.
