China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism introduced the mascot for the 2026 “Happy Chinese New Year” global celebration — the auspicious horse. This mascot and its related cultural products will be widely used in the 2026 festivities, adding new excitement to Spring Festival celebrations around the world.

Designed by a team from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the auspicious horse draws inspiration from ancient Chinese culture. It takes ideas from the Bronze Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow from the Eastern Han Dynasty, and uses the Tang-era “five-color horse” mane style. The main color is Chinese red, with lucky elements like auspicious clouds and ruyi patterns, showing the warmth and joy of the Spring Festival.
