Police in India arrested a man because he tied his daughter to his motorbike to school. The girl is now eight years old.
People said it happened on Friday. They also said the father was not kind to his daughter. The man, a father of two sons and three daughters, works as a security guard at a school. He said his daughter had an exam but she didn’t want to go to school.
Police said he tried to ask his youngest child to go to school, because she had a test to write. And the father promised to give gifts to her, but when she didn’t go to school, her angry father tied her to the back of his bike and took her to school.
The man spent a day in the cells but still believes he did the right thing. "My daughter will not die if I take her to school. But she will surely die if she does not study," he said.
Going to school is still a dream for many girls. Many parents think there is no need to take their daughters to school.
