I've taught English for 4 years in China. Here is some advice for you to learn English. My personal goal is to test the reading, writing, grammar（语法） and speaking for students.
I've found one thing. Those students who learn to speak English well will always score well in school. For example, if your native language is Mandarin and you hear someone speak improper grammar, you will know immediately without much thinking. If a student can speak English properly , then they only need the ability to spell the words correctly.
Many students only learned grammar. They will always end up with Chinglish(中文式英语). A lot of students have spent years studying English, but they cannot say even the simplest sentence. When they do, they most often have incorrect grammar.
The more brain functions you use to learn a language, the faster you will learn that language and the longer you will remember it. Speaking requires the proper use of grammar, pronunciation(发音), listening and vocabulary. The best way to overcome the difficulty is building a strong oral foundation.
