“The World Food Programme (WFP世界粮食计划署) has shown a new app called ShareTheMeal(分享食物), which will allow smartphone users to provide Syrian refugee children with food with a simple touch on their phones.”A UN spokesman told reporters here Thursday, "Fifty cents through the app can provide one hungry child with food in school each day." He said,"Users can choose how much they give through their smartphone. Users can choose to help feed a child whenever they like, such as when they are having lunch."
All the money given will help Syrian refugee children in Jordan(约旦) who are part of WFP’s school meals program. WFP believes ShareTheMeal will be great helpful, because there are 20 times as many smartphone users as there are hungry children in the world. In some European countries this past June, some 120,000 users provided more than 1.7 million meals for schoolchildren in the southern African country of Lesotho. "With more and more people download the app, smartphone users in many countries across the world can support hungry children," said Sebastian Stricker, who founded ShareTheMeal. WFP said that this app is free on IOS and Android from Nov.12. It only takes 30 seconds for anyone who download(下载)the app to give money to Syrian refugee children.
