A man and a woman died in a gunfight with police on Wednesday. They were said to take part in a shooting attack that killed 14 people and wounded 17 in California. When the man and the woman were trying to run away in a car, they were stopped by the police. Then the gunfight began, one police officer was injured in the gunfight.
Police also detained(拘留) a person who was with the two in the car. But police was not sure if the person was involved in the case. Police added that they still didn’t know why the two fired and killed people. The shooting was the deadliest U.S. gun violence since the killing at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012, in which 27 people, including the gunman, were killed.
The Los Angeles Times, getting information from a police officer, reported that they believe one of the shooters left the party after getting into an argument and returned with one or two armed partners. Another police officer said he thought that someone left the party angrily. But he did not know whether that person returned.
