Anyone who has enjoyed the programs in the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Paralympics(残奥会) will never forget the song Paradise presented by Yang Haitao, a young blind singer. With the song reechoing(使回响) around all over the world, he becomes well-known.
Yang was born blind in a poor family in 1982. He began to feel interested in music at the age of five. He started to learn singing since 9 in a Blind School in Yinchuan City. His talent in singing was shown since 1993. In 2001 he sang the song Paradise created by Teng Geer and won the first prize in the Fifth Handicapped Singing Competition(第五届残疾人歌唱大赛). Yang became more self-confident in his singing. From then on, he decided to plan his singing career and tried his best to be independent through singing.
Now he is one of the members of China Disabled Art Troupe. To many people’s surprise, he can sing many beautiful songs from different countries such as My Dream in English, Friend in Korean, Roses on Alps in Swedish language, and so on. It is very clear that the achievement is based on many teachers’ help and support. He is going to use his songs to thank those who have helped him in his life. He also wants to use his songs to bring happiness to people all over the world.
