The Friends of the Bacon Free Library will hold a garden tour from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on June 12, rain or shine. Tour map pick-up will begin at 1:30 pm on June 12 at the Bacon Free Library, 58 Eliot St, Natick. A full list of garden addresses and descriptions will be provided in a program guide and participants are encouraged to explore each garden’s features, whether self-guided or with the aid of an instructor.
This year’s theme is “Organic and Sustainable Gardening,” and the tour will visit 10 gardens across Natick, Wellesley and Sherborn. The gardens represent a number of organic approaches—some are fully organic, others are partially organic and some are beginning a transition to a pesticide(杀虫剂)-free program. They also range from small pocket gardens to expansive front gardens. The tour will feature a butterfly garden, a completely edible(可食用) garden and a garden that measures the impacts of climate change.
Tickets are on sale now for $30 and $35 on the day of the tour and can be purchased at the Bacon Free Library or online at baconfreelibrary.org. The income from the Natick Garden Tour benefits the Bacon Free Library.
People who take part in the tour are also invited to join the Friends of the Bacon Free Library for a wine and cheese reception from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the end of the tour. The reception will feature local artists at work, snacks and hard cider from the library’s neighbor, Lookout Farm.
