Square dancing or guang chang wu is a popular activity among older Chinese women. We can often see old women dancing in the open area in the city. What opinion do you hold on it? Do you think square dancing is making noise or not?
Tony
Both my mother and father are Chinese. And I have been living here since I was born. There are many people against square dancing because it makes too much noise. But I think if people dance near a mall or a public square, it will not be a problem. When people dance near apartment blocks(街区) and disturb residents, it would be better if the government stops it.

I am from the United Kingdom, and I just moved here last year for a college degree. I notice that many older women here love getting together and dancing. And they are having a good time while they’re at it. I love cycling(骑自行车) around the city and seeing people dancing. It’s great.

I absolutely HATE it because I experienced it. They dance for more than 10 hours every day, often till midnight, on the ground of your apartment building with loud, noisy music. Do you want to live this kind of life with so much noise? It becomes so popular now in the cities throughout China. It’s time to have the government step in to stop it.
