Anyone who has lost a wallet knows how frustrating it can be. But one man saw the funny side after discovering that the people who found the wallet he dropped in 2003 have been holding a drinking challenge in his honour for the past 14 years.
Tim Burrows lost his wallet at Reading festival in 2003 and this week received a message from the man who found it. The man said he and his friends had found the wallet and handed it into lost property, but they took £10 from it to buy as much White Lightening cider(苹果酒) as possible.
From that day on, the group of friends established an annual cider drinking competition, which they called The Timothy Borrows Challenge. The man messaged Tim, “Did you lose your wallet at Reading once?” Tim replied, “I did use to go to Reading. Did you find my wallet?”
After successfully getting a reply, the man wrote to Tim, “I think my friends found it near orange and yellow camp in 2003 if indeed it was yours. It was handed into the lost and found, but not before one of them 'borrowed' £10 out of it. Of course it remained there ever since then. That was very childish but I always thought it would be nice to reach out and let you know that it went down as an annual tradition of cider drinking competitions named The Timothy Borrows Challenge. ”
Tim wanted to know more about the rules of the drinking challenge, so he asked the man, who explained, “Three teams of 5 had 4 litres of cider between them. The winning team on this new year's edition of the game managed to win under 5 minutes one team failed to finish.”
