Men do not help enough around the house. An American university says it is rare for men to share housework. Researchers looked at working couples who became parents. Men did less than five hours a week housework after their baby was born, even though both parents had jobs. They spent this time helping with the baby.
Becoming a parent adds 21 hours per week to a mother's work, mostly looking after her baby. New fathers do not do extra work. They do not know the mother is doing more. After a baby is born, men let the women look after the baby. This happens even when the mother is doing the same number of hours in her job.
