One day, Carl bought some expensive books. He put the books in his car. Then he walked to other shops to buy something else. When he came back, one door of his car was open and the books were not there.
He wrote a letter to a newspaper and he went to the police station. On Saturday, people read this in the newspaper: "Have you got any books? Carl will buy all books..."
The next day, the first man came. Carl took him to the kitchen. One hour later, another man arrived. He said, "I've got some good books. You want to buy books, don't you?"Soon the books were on the table. "Come in now," Carl called. A policeman came out from the kitchen. He read the names on the books and the names on the list(清单) in his hand. They were the same. "Come with me, sir," the policeman said to the man.
