Tony was riding along the road. He saw an old man digging in his garden. There was a little tree beside him. It was ready to be planted. Tony asked the old man, "What kind of tree are you planting there?" "This is a pear tree, sir," he answered. "A pear tree?" Tony was surprised. "Why, how old are you, may I ask?" "I am seventy-eight years old," said the old man.
"You are seventy-eight years old, you are planting a little tree now and it will take years to give fruit. Do you want to get any benefit from this tree?"Tony said. The old man asked, "Did you eat pears when you were a boy?" "Sure." Tony answered.
The old man said, "Our forefathers planted trees for us, and I am doing the same for the people after me." Tony was quiet for a moment and said, "You are right."
