In recent days, tourists may be banned(禁止) from sitting on the ground in Venice in order to rid(清除) the city of impolite behaviors. Officers in the Italian holiday hot spot are proposing fining people between 50 and 500 euros if they are caught sitting or lying on the floor. But some residents groups have hit back this opinion because they said there are so many rules in Venice now that there is nothing left that you can do. It means we can do nothing in Venice. Sitting down on the steps of monuments(纪念碑) and other buildings is already banned in the area around St Mark's Square in the last years.
The opinion was put forward by mayor Luigi Brugnaro. It will be voted in November. But Marco Gasparinetti, who leads the residents' group Gruppo Aprile 25, told the Guardian: “Many things are forbidden in Venice, so there is nothing left that you can do. They would need to hire an extra 5,000 officers to ban everything.”Although many things are banned in Venice, around 60,000 tourists enter the city each day.
