Should parents pay for college costs for their kids? People from different countries have different thoughts.
Alice (China): When I was 9, my parents told me that all they wanted me to do was do well in school. They expected me to get good grades in school. They also made it clear to me that they did not want me to borrow money from bank for college. They encouraged me to have part-time jobs for getting experience, but they didn't want me to be stressed about money. I am so thankful to them. In Chinese culture, parents would take care of their children for their entire lifetime. Duty doesn't end when a child becomes an adult.
SrtaNecia (US): I think parents need to teach their children responsibility! My parents made all three of us work at the age of 16. They told us they could not afford all four years of college, but they had some money saved up for each of us that would probably cover the first year. After that we were on our own. They helped us save money from our jobs and taught us that we have to work hard for what we want so we can enjoy it later. They both came from very poor families, worked their way through college, and now own their home and have three very hard-working children.
