They say that a good present is a practical one. So when Dianna’s birthday came along, her husband knew exactly what to get her—a power washer. Dianna had been thinking about it ever since the very first time she used one to help a girl friend get her mom’s house ready to sell.
For over a month, she had washed everything she could, including the yard, the fence, the siding on the shop, several dirty shutters, and even the garbage cans. When it was time to tackle the biggest challenge, the driveway, she realized how long it would take and decided to go even further, turning it into an art project.
“I have done crazy art things since I was probably 5 years old,” Dianna said, “No professional art training, though.” At first, she washed some encouraging words like “love” onto the concrete. However, that wasn’t enough for her. She then wanted to create something more intricate and began covering the path with motifs from the natural world.
“As pleased as I was with the upper driveway word art, I was inspired to see what else I could do with this wonderful new toy,” Dianna wrote. “Although I am still learning techniques and am not completely satisfied with the results, I guess one could say this is just what might happen when a husband gets an artist a power washer for her birthday!”
