Laurent Simons looks like any other nine-year-old boy as he plays with his pet dog. But Laurent is very different. If all goes well, he will graduate from college this month. For this, people have called him a genius.
When Laurent was only a baby, his grandparents found he was quite special. Laurent started primary school when he was four. He went to high school at the age of six. Last year, he started studying at a university in the Netherlands. He is doing his best to complete a three-year course in ten months.
Laurent’s teachers are impressed by his talent. They say the boy is the fastest learner they have ever seen. “Laurent is like a sponge,” one of them said. “He can learn a lot in a short period of time.” Laurent’s goal is to invent artificial hearts. That’s because his grandparents have heart problems. The boy has always wanted to help people like them.
