Darren Steels was surprised after he found a broken electric socket(插座) in his house. It was actually a secret safe! He and his wife couldn’t use the socket after they bought their home. Their hoover(真空吸尘器) didn’t work when they plugged it into the socket in the kitchen near the stairs. But after they called in an electrician, they found the hidden safe in their wall.
Darren said, “We tried to plug things into it. It’s a perfect place for the hoover without having the cord(电源线) running across the kitchen floor. People have just painted around it.” He added, “I was just angry with it. We had an electrician come round and I asked him to have a look at it.”
The electrician told Darren there was no current(电流) leading into the socket and pulled the socket from the wall to find out why. When he got it open, he found the secret safe. But there were not notes and anything valuable in it. He saw only dust, fluff and a dead spider. A key to open the safe was in one of the plug holes.
Darren posted a video showing the pull-out safe on Twitter. Many people left their comments. One person said, “Don’t put money in it, and someone knows it.” And a second wrote, “I have a socket and it doesn’t work. Check it later!”
