It’s 2023 now. A 50-year-old man has been caught by police in Spain. He faked (假装) heart attacks at 20 restaurants around the country because he didn’t want to pay the bill.
Last month, the man was at El Buen Comer, a restaurant in Alicante. He ordered some delicious food for $29 and some drinks for $8. Then the waiter brought him the bill. When the waiter left the table, he just got up and tried to leave. However, he was stopped and told that he still had to pay the bill. The man was unhappy and said he was going to get the money from his hotel room, but the waiter didn’t let him leave. Then he started faking a heart attack.
The waiter didn’t fall for his performance, and he called the police. When the officers arrived, the man called for medical help, but he didn’t realize that the policemen had already known him.
According to Spanish media, the 50-year-old man is already known among restaurant owners in Costa Blanca. He was first spotted in Alicante in November last year and has since become famous for his heart attack performance. He knows that the police can’t do too much to stop him. And he doesn’t mind spending a night or two in jail (监狱). After that he begins his performance again.
However, the man may face his biggest challenge next. A number of restaurant owners plan to team up and file a joint complaint (联合投诉). It could put him in jail for two years.
