Christchurch is a large city in New Zealand’s South Island. Two big earthquakes(地震) happened in the city in 2010 and 2011. The earthquakes destroyed more than 7, 500 homes. A part of the city becomes too dangerous. It is not possible to build new houses there. But gardens full of fruit trees are still there. These trees grow and bear fruit.
Food gets very expensive in New Zealand these years. People look for new ways to get cheap food. And they find the wild(野外的) gardens full of fruit trees. People pick fruit, nuts(坚果), and mushrooms(蘑菇) there.
Many people look for food there. It is free. Some people are happy that they can spend more time in nature. Their children can see how trees and plants grow. They say that wild fruit tastes much better than fruit from a supermarket.
