Jazz Hardrict has just had her thirteenth birthday. She recently checked into UCSG Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. She put her laptop and tablet(笔记本电脑和平板电脑) into her backpack after knowing she would be in hospital for several months.
On the way to the hospital, her grandmother, Jan Hunter, made a stop. Then someone broke her car window and stole(偷) Jazz’s laptop and tablet. Jazz and her family were depressive. Not only does Jazz rely on(依靠) technology to keep up with her schoolwork, it’s also her only way to talk with her friends outside of the hospital.
“It’s so unfair,” said Jazz. “It’s not OK.” Jazz and Jan were both upset and angry that this happened at the worst possible time.
“Her journey is hard enough,” said Jan. The grandmother decided to reach out to their community(社区) for help.
A man named Mike Panico got in touch with them. As a father of three, he understood how difficult Jazz’s situation was. Mike donated a backpack and a computer to Jazz. Of course, he wants nothing in return except to see Jazz succeed!
