Jennifer Vernancio is a single mother of two and she has been a waitress(女服务员) for three years. Last Wednesday, she met with some problems and felt bad before work. By the time she began to work, she was hoping that her day would turn around.
“My first table of the day was a very, very nice man and his wife,” she said. The couple ordered sandwiches, paid their bill(账单) and left. “The man said ‘Have a nice day!’ to me when leaving. I said, ‘You too.’” said Vernancio. “I go over to pick up the check(支票). I don’t even know they left me an $810 tip(小费). I keep thinking to myself, ‘Are you kidding? This can’t be!’ I brought it to my manager and at first I said, ‘This can’t be.’ But she said, ‘Oh no, that’s it’.”
Vernancio said she has never got a tip like that. She never got the name of the couple, but she will never forget the act of kindness. It made her day. She bought her daughter a pair of new shoes, sent her son a toy police truck, and paid off some bills.
“To the man and his wife, I just want to say thank you so much. It meant a lot,” Vernancio said. “The kindness behind the money made me smile the rest of the day.”
