When Benjamin was very young, he already knew that he was adopted(领养). He was always curious about his birth mother and trying to search for her. But it was not easy since he knew nothing about her except her first name, Holly.
At the same time, the mother Holly Shearer never forgot about her baby she gave up 20 years ago. She was just 18 when she made the difficult decision.
“I thought about him all the time,” said Holly. Holly finally found Benjamin’s Facebook two years ago. “He was 18 when I found his Facebook and I was very hesitant(犹豫的) to get in touch with him,” she said. “He had so much going on in his life... I didn’t want to throw a wrench into his life. So I just watched from a distance.”
But on November 19 of last year, Holly sent Benjamin a “Happy Birthday” message. “I can remember where I was when I got the message. I was at work,” Benjamin said. “She also explained who she was, and it surprised me.” Two days later, Holly and Benjamin reunited(团聚) at a restaurant. The two also realized they both have worked at HCA Healthcare’s St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City in the last two years.
