A newborn baby girl who was left in a Safe Haven Baby Box in Florida has found her forever home with the very firefighter (消防队员) who found her.
Back in January a firefighter in Ocala, Florida, got an urgent alert (紧急警报) in the middle of the night from the Safe Haven Baby Box system. There are many boxes. If parents are unable to care for their babies, they can send their babies without telling their names.
The firefighter ran to the nearby Safe Haven Baby Box, unsure of what he would find. “To be honest, I thought it was a false alarm,” the firefighter said. To his surprise, he found a baby girl. She had a little bottle with her, and she was cold. The firefighter picked her up and held her. From that moment on, the firefighter decided to do something.
As it turns out, the firefighter and his wife had been trying for more than ten years to have a baby. They had completed all of their classes in the state of Florida and were registered (注册) to adopt (收养). Two days later the little girl was home with the firefighter and his wife and would become his now 5-month-old daughter, Zoey.
“The way I found her ... this was God helping us out,” the firefighter said.
