The local council has been pushed into action by Albinen’s residents, who believe the policy may well ensure the future of the village. For starters, don’t rush to pack your bags and take your family to Albinen if you’re over 45. In addition, the newcomers must agree to stay for at least 10 years and buy a house in the village. The building must be worth at least 200,000 francs and served as a permanent residence(永久居所), not simply a get-away home for holidays and vacations.
Albinen, which sits only six kilometers (3.7 miles) from the city Leukerbad spa resort, has lost three families to the city within a few years. They took away eight children, which forced the village school closed. Now there are only 150 people in the village.
Despite their natural beauty, many Swiss villages are suffering a fate(命运) similar to Albinen’s. The young people have gone to the big city for making a bright future.
