68岁老人重新开始上学
Nepalese grandfather Durga Kami brushes his bushy white beard(胡子), puts on his school uniform and, with the help of his walking stick, walks for over an hour to class for another day of learning.
Being poor stopped Kami from finishing his studies as a child. Now 68, the father of six and grandfather of eight goes to school six days a week to finish his studies and stay away from a lonely home life, after the death of his wife.
“To forget my sadness, I go to school,” Kami, one of the oldest students in Nepal. He studies in the classroom with 14- or 15-year-olds. Kami first went to Kaharay Primary School. There he learnt to read and write with the seven and eight year olds. He finished Grade Five with the 11-year-olds before leaving.
The teacher D.R Koirala then invited Kami to his school. It provided the grandfather with stationery(文具) and a school uniform including a pair of grey trousers and a white shirt.
Kami joins in all activities, including volleyball in the schoolyard. He said he wanted to study until his death.
