“The seeds I planted will grow into tall trees. I know they will one day,” said Li Yuqing. Graduated from a top university in America, Li could have found a very good job. However, she didn’t. Instead, Li came back to China and became a volunteer teacher. She started teaching English at an elementary school in rural Gansu.
At first, the city girl found life at the school difficult. The toilet was dirty, and she could take showers only once a week. Teaching was difficult, too.
