跨越半个地球的“水中信使”

A bottle with a letter inside was found on the shores of Peterborough, Victoria, Australia. A local named Tony discovered it and was surprised to find the note. It read: “Thank you for finding this bottle. I placed similar bottles in different oceans worldwide hoping someone like you would find it.”

The letter said the bottle was dropped in the Atlantic Ocean in November 2008. The sender asked the bottle finder to send back the note to him. The sender wanted to learn how far the bottle traveled. As a reward, he promised to pay the finder $20.
Joe Johnson, the sender, explained he likely threw the bottle during one of his many cruises. “I’ve been to Australia and Brazil. My wife and I took many cruises, and I probably threw a bottle or two in the water each time,” he said.
A picture of the bottle and note was posted online. People were surprised that a single bottle had traveled over 16 years. “How fantastic — I love that!” one commented. Another added, “That’s really fascinating! If only that bottle could talk, what an adventure.”
