Chinese diver Chen Yuxi won her fourth world championship gold medal in the women’s 10-meter platform event on Thursday. Her victory brought China’s total diving gold medals to eight at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

“Even though this is my fourth world title in this event, each one has its own special meaning,” Chen said after her win. She remembered winning her first gold in Gwangju in 2019, then overcoming injuries and setbacks to win in Budapest, and achieving her personal best score in Fukuoka. “Every world championship is important to me,” she added. “This time, even though I felt tired and found it hard to keep my best form, I still scored 430 points. I’m very happy with that.”
Xie Peiling, who reached the podium in her first major international competition, said, “Chen Yuxi always encourages me. After I made a mistake in the semifinal, she came to comfort me. Her diving skills, how she enters the water, and her steady performance are all things I want to learn from” .
With the Paris Olympics completed and a new Olympic period beginning, Chen remains focused but modest about the future. “I don’t have a long-term plan yet,” she explained. “Stepping off the podium today, I’m starting again from the beginning, taking things step by step.”
Following her last dive, Chen looked up at the scoreboard. When her winning score of 430.50 appeared, she covered her face, crying tears of joy as the crowd cheered loudly. Her journey continues from talented newcomer to four-time world champion and an important member of the team.
