From August 14th to 17th, the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games will take place at the National Speed Skating Oval, known as the “Ice Ribbon”. This is the first big sports meeting just for robots that look and move like people.

The fun Opening Ceremony starts on the evening of August 14th. All robot teams will enter the stadium. People will see robots do street dance, perform Chinese opera, and even dance with real people.

Beyond the exciting opening show, the event itself is breaking records as the largest of its kind so far. It brings together 280 teams from 16 countries across five continents. Among the 280 teams, 192 are from universities, and 88 are from companies. Many of these companies are leading humanoid robotics manufacturers in China. In total, 127 brands of humanoid robots will be shown, with over 500 robots in all.

During the four-day event at the “Ice Ribbon”, three days will be for the main competitions after the opening ceremony. Each day will have two parts for competitions, in the morning and in the afternoon, and each part will last about three hours. During the three days, robots will show skills in sports, shows and daily jobs. Sports include races, jumps, football and freestyle fighting. Shows include dances and martial arts(武术). They also do hotel and hospital jobs.

Visitors can play with robots too! Try table tennis or shooting against them. It’s a great way to see how clever these human-like machines are!
