The World Games showcases many exciting sports not found in the Olympics. One interesting example is Orienteering. This outdoor activity tests both fitness and map-reading skills. Competitors use detailed maps to find their way through natural areas like forests. They race to reach a series of marked points in the correct order as fast as possible. Athletes choose their own paths between points, thinking about the land’s shape, existing paths, and how easy it is to move through different places. Races vary in length: Middle Distance events typically take elite competitors around 30 minutes, while Sprint events in parks or towns are usually completed in about 15 minutes.

Finswimming shows amazing speed underwater. Swimmers wear either one large fin or two smaller ones. They race either on the water’s surface breathing through a tube, or underwater while holding their breath. The World Games includes different styles: Surface (SF) using a monofin and a snorkel, Bi-Fins (BF) using two fins and a snorkel, and Apnea (AP), where swimmers use a monofin and race entirely underwater holding their breath over a set distance.
Fistball is an exciting team sport. Two teams of five players face each other across a net on a grass court. Players hit the ball with a fist or arm, trying to make the other team fail to return it. Unlike volleyball, the ball must bounce once on the ground before being hit, and it can also bounce once between each of a team’s three allowed touches. Teams score points when opponents miss the ball, hit it out, or let it bounce twice. The action is fast and exciting.
Drone Racing represents modern air sports. Pilots fly small, fast drones using remote controls. They wear special goggles showing a live video feed from the drone’s camera. These four-engine drones can reach maximum speeds of over 150 km/h. Races feature several drones flying together around difficult obstacle courses, indoors or outdoors, with a typical three-lap race taking between 1.5 and 4 minutes to complete. Pilots need quick reactions and steady hands to control these extremely fast machines. This sport creates an immersive feeling of high-speed flight for pilots and exciting viewing for spectators, helping it grow quickly around the world.

A Weather and time.

B Map accuracy only.

C Terrain features and accessibility.

D Competitors’ speed.

解析:选C。C 细节理解题。第一段提到运动员选择路线时需考虑地形(land’s shape)、现有路径(existing paths)和通行难度(how easy it is to move),选项C概括了这些要素。故选C。

2.2.How do finswimmers breathe in different styles?

A Always use tubes.

B Hold breath or use tubes.

C Only underwater breathing.

D No special equipment.

解析:选B。B 细节理解题。第二段指出两种呼吸方式:水面用呼吸管(breathing through a tube)和水下憋气(underwater while holding their breath)。故选B。

3.3.When does a team score in fistball?

A After three touches.

B Using fist only.

C Ball crosses the net quickly.

D Opponents fail to return.

解析:选D。D 推理判断题。第三段明确浮士德球的得分条件是对方未接到球(miss the ball)、击球出界(hit it out)或让球弹地两次(let it bounce twice),均属于“未能回球”。故选D。

4.4.How do drone racers control their drones?

A By watching screens.

B Using first-person view.

C Following outdoor tracks.

D With automatic pilots.

解析:选B。B 推理判断题。第四段强调飞行员通过眼镜接收无人机摄像头的实时画面(live video feed),即第一视角。故选B。
