Recently, a Long March 8 rocket lifted off from the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, successfully sending the seventh batch of Qianfan Constellation networking satellites into their targeted orbit in a “18 satellites on one rocket” mission.
The Qianfan Constellation is China’s independently developed low-Earth orbit satellite internet system. It mainly serves the Belt and Road Initiative and Chinese enterprises going global, providing integrated communication solutions covering air, space, ground and sea.
The Long March 8 for this mission is a two-stage liquid launch vehicle with a payload capacity of no less than 5.5 tonnes to a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit, using its basic configuration with a pair of boosters. This mission marks the 636th flight of the Long March rocket series.
