During the 2026 May Day holiday, urban football leagues in Jiangsu, Hubei, Jiangxi and other provinces across China have gained immense popularity.
The opening match of the Jiangxi Super League (Gan Chao) was held at the Nanchang International Sports Center, attracting over 60,000 spectators on site. The Hubei Super League (Chu Chao) welcomed 23,000 fans to its home ground in Wuhan, while fans from Xianning chartered more than 30 buses to travel across cities for the games. Events including the Jiangsu Super League, Fujian Super League (Min Chao) and Ningxia Super League (Ning Chao) are also in full swing. Sales of drinks and catering around the venues have boomed, with goods at some stalls selling out repeatedly.
To expand the event influence, the Gan Chao has also launched a public welfare support program. It offers free LED advertising spaces at stadiums for agriculture, rural areas, farmers and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, aiming to turn event popularity into new growth momentum for rural revitalization and enterprise development.
