Four Dimensions of Stanford: Discover, Connect, Relax, Inspire
Volunteering at Stanford Educational Farm — Weekday
Wednesdays, June 24 – December 16, 2026 | 9 am – 12 pm
O’Donohue Educational Farm, 175 Electioneer Rd
Help keep the farm running! Tasks include weeding, planting, mulching (覆盖), composting (堆肥) and more. The farm welcomes volunteers aged 10 and above; volunteers aged 10–14 must be accompanied by a guardian throughout the session. Wear close-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty — tools and gloves are provided on site. Advance registration is required to participate. Sessions may be cancelled in extreme heat, poor air quality, or rain.
Take a Break, Pet a Dog
Wednesday, August 1, 2026 | 3 pm – 4 pm
Y2E2 Courtyard, Science and Engineering Quad
Hosted by the Terman Engineering Library, this stress‑relief event features certified therapy dogs from Pet Partners. Drop by to relax and relieve stress. Open to Stanford students, staff and alumni. In case of rain, the activity will be moved to a covered area nearby.

Physics Alumni Reunion Homecoming
Friday, October 16, 2026 | 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Varian Physics, 382 Via Pueblo
1.1. Which event requires advance sign-up?
A Volunteering at Stanford Educational Farm.
B Taking a break with therapy dogs.
C Joining the museum storytime.
D Attending the physics alumni reunion.
解析:选A。A细节理解题。根据第一则通知中“Advance registration is required to participate”可知,农场志愿活动必须提前报名。第二则明确“No registration required”;第三则说明“no RSVP necessary”;第四则虽提到“you are highly encouraged to respond”,但“RSVPs are not required”表明回复非强制。故选A。
2.2. What is a feature of the Museum Minis program?
A It offers formal art history lessons.
B It links storytelling with art exploration.
C It demands prior reading from children.
D It lasts from dawn until noon.
解析:选B。B推理判断题。根据第三则通知“Each session introduces art concepts through two age-appropriate books and invites families to explore works by artists such as Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko”可知,该项目通过绘本故事引入艺术概念,并邀请家庭探索艺术作品,将讲故事与艺术探索相结合。A项“formal lessons”与原文“storytime”不符;C项“demands prior reading”文中未提及;D项“dawn until noon”与“11:15 am – 12:15 pm”明显矛盾。故选B。
3.3. What do the dog event and the alumni reception have in common?
A They are both held in science buildings.
B They both require relevant work experience.
C They are both run by academic departments.
D They both welcome former university members.
解析:选D。D细节理解题。根据第二则通知“Open to Stanford students, staff and alumni”及第四则“Undergraduate and graduate physics alumni are invited”可知,两项活动均欢迎校友(former students)参加。
