Tesla unveiled its fully-autonomous ride-hailing vehicle Cybercab at an invitation-only event in Austin, Texas on September 3, 2026 local time, and the event was not publicly live-streamed. The carmaker updated its Robotaxi app to add support for Cybercab rides, offering riders a choice between the gold-colored Cybercab and the Model Y. First shown as a concept car at Tesla’s “We, Robot” event in October 2024, the first production-ready Cybercab rolled off the assembly line in February 2026 and mass production began in April. Devoid of steering wheel, pedals and rearview mirrors, the vehicle realizes autonomous driving via eight high-definition cameras and an end-to-end neural network. Its estimated travel cost stands at about 0.84 yuan per kilometer.

Tesla will display the Cybercab in multiple Chinese cities including Beijing and Shanghai starting mid-September. The exhibition is solely for showcasing product design and technical concepts. It does not signal the model’s commercial sale or robotaxi service launch in the Chinese market.
