Watching a new film at home has never been easier. Online platforms bring the latest shows right to our sofas. So are cinemas still needed? Some people say yes, some say no. Around the world, children have very different opinions about it.
Some kids say we don’t need cinemas anymore. At home, you can lie on the sofa and pause the film anytime. You don’t need to drive there or buy expensive tickets. For example, a family of four can pay less for a month of home shows than for one night at the movies. Many online shows are free or very cheap. The convenience of watching at home, they say, is a big reason why cinemas are less popular today.
Other kids disagree. They say cinemas still matter because they bring people together. Watching a film with strangers and laughing together in the dark is an experience you can’t replicate at home. What’s more, a big screen with loud sound, and even 3D effects, makes films more exciting. And the memory of watching a great film with friends lasts a long time.
As for me, however, the cinema still has a special place. Going to the movies is not just about the film. It is about the experience: sitting in the dark with others, sharing the same laugh or surprise. No home screen can offer the warmth of a shared moment. When the lights come up, the memories stay. After the film, people often talk about it on the way home.

1.1. What do some kids think of cinemas in Paragraph 2?
A They are unnecessary.
B They lack new films.
C They are less expensive.
D They open too late.
解析:选A。 第二段开头明确写道“Some kids say we don’t need cinemas anymore”,意思是“一些孩子说我们不再需要电影院了”,这与A项“They are unnecessary(它们是不必要的)”意思一致。 因此选A。
2.2. The underlined word “replicate” in Paragraph 3 means ______.
A Simplify.
B Remove.
C Copy.
D Replace.
画线词所在的句子是“Watching a film with strangers and laughing together in the dark is an experience you can’t replicate at home”,意思是“和陌生人一起看电影、在黑暗中一起大笑是一种你在家里无法复制/重现的体验”。
3.3. What can we infer from the third paragraph?
A People should stay at home.
B Some experiences need cinemas.
C Film tickets will get cheaper.
D Kids like watching films alone.
根据第三段的“Watching a film with many strangers and laughing together in the dark is an experience you can’t replicate at home”以及“a big screen with loud sound, and even 3D effects, makes films more exciting”可知,影院的观影体验和视听效果在家难以复制,需连接两条信息推断出“有些体验离不开影院”。故选B。
4.4. What is the writer’s attitude towards going to the movies?
A Uncertain.
B Worried.
C Negative.
D Positive.
最后一段作者明确表达了自己的看法:“the cinema still has a special place(电影院仍然有特殊的地位)”“No home screen can offer the warmth of a shared moment(没有任何家庭屏幕能带来共享时刻的温暖)”“the memories stay(记忆会留存)”。
