Zhang Huiping, an ultra-trail runner from Dali, Yunnan, finished second in the women’s category at the 2026 Tor des Géants (TOR330) in Italy with a time of 80 hours, 35 minutes and 31 seconds. She set a new Asian women’s record and became the first Asian female athlete to stand on the podium of this race. The race covers 336.1 kilometres with more than 24,000 metres of elevation gain and 25 mountain passes above 2,000 metres, and less than 60 percent of participants usually finish it. Zhang cut the previous Asian women’s record by 13 hours and 38 minutes, keeping second place for most of the race and widening her lead in the later stages.
Zhang Huiping is an elite athlete sponsored by KAILAS. She runs a clothing shop in Dali and volunteers with the Dali Blue Sky Rescue Team. This marked her third attempt at the TOR330 race. Other Chinese runners also shone in this edition. Zhao Jiajun claimed the men’s title and broke the course record, while Zhang Weiqiang took fourth place overall. Their outstanding results show Chinese ultra-trail athletes are highly competitive on the global stage.
