Huang Yunhai is a police dog trainer in Jilin, China. He has worked with police dogs for 29 years. With his dogs, he has helped solve many cases and find lost people or things. He loves his dogs as if they were his own brothers.
When a police dog grows old and dies, Huang buries him on the hillside next to the training field. “If they are buried here, they can still hear the barking from our daily training, so they won’t feel lonely,” he says. He often brings boiled eggs, the dogs’ favorite food, to the hillside.
Huang’s favorite dog was Linfa, a true hero. One cold winter, Linfa tracked a criminal (罪犯) through deep snow for eight hours. His nose was hurt and his legs were shaking, but he did not stop. In the end,he found the key clue (线索) and helped the police catch the criminal. When Linfa died, he used his last strength to touch Huang’s hand.
Huang’s daughter loves dogs, too. She became a police dog trainer and now works with her father. Huang is happy that his work will continue. He hopes more young people will love police dogs and this job. For him, they are not just tools, but they are loyal friends and part of his family.

1.1. What does Huang Yunhai do?
A He trains police dogs.
B He sells pet dogs.
C He cares for sick dogs.
D He writes about dogs.
解析:选A。 根据第一段第一句“Huang Yunhai is a police dog trainer in Jilin, China.” A“He trains police dogs.”。 故选A。
2.2. Why does Huang bury his old dogs on the hillside?
A He has no other places.
B He wants to stop them feeling lonely.
C He wants to keep the field clean.
D He enjoys the quiet hillside.
根据第二段黄云海说的话:“If they are buried here, they can still hear the barking from our daily training, so they won’t feel lonely,”可知,他把老警犬埋在山坡上是为了让它们不感到孤独,因此选B“He wants to stop them feeling lonely.”。
3.3. What can we infer about Linfa from Paragraph 3?
A Linfa never felt any pain.
B Linfa caught the criminal alone.
C Linfa was a very brave dog.
D Linfa hated cold winter weather.
C“Linfa was a very brave dog.”。A“Linfa从不感到疼痛”与“His nose was hurt”矛盾;B“Linfa独自抓住了罪犯”与“helped the police catch the criminal”不符;D“Linfa讨厌寒冷的冬天”无法从文中推出,冬天只是故事发生的背景,所以排除。故选C。
4.4. What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A Young people.
B Family members.
C Old friends.
D The police dogs.
第四段最后一句“For him, they are not just tools, but they are loyal friends and part of his family.” D“The police dogs.”。
5.5. What is the best title for the passage?
A Linfa’s Great Story.
B A Man and His Police Dogs.
C The Trainer’s Daily Work.
D Working in Deep Snow.
B“A Man and His Police Dogs.”。A“Linfa’s Great Story”只对应第三段,不能概括全文;C“The Trainer’s Daily Work”过于狭窄,没有体现人与狗的情感;D“Working in Deep Snow”只是Linfa故事中的一个细节,不能作为全文标题,所以排除。故选B。
