Summer Safety Advice for Students

Summer is here! Students can play outside safely with the following easy advice.

Stay away from strong sunlight

Strong sunlight does harm to your skin (皮肤). ___1___. Hats and sunglasses also help to protect your eyes and faces. The sun’s strongest hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in summer. Outdoor games are safer early or late in the day.

___2___

Always tell your parents where you go. For example, you should tell your parents if you go to the library on Sunday morning. Send a text message to them when you arrive there. ___3___. It’s quite necessary to keep in close touch with your parents.

Be aware of food safety

Food safety is important for everyone, especially students. When buying food, you should choose shops that are allowed to sell food. Always check the package (包装) information to see if the food is still fresh. ___4___. Fruits should be peeled or washed under clean water before eating. Leftover food should be kept in the fridge immediately, and it should be heated before you eat it.

Be mindful of water safety

Swimming in pools with lifeguards (救生员) is safer than open water. ___5___. Always follow pool rules like “No Jumping” to avoid accidents. For example, jumping into shallow water can hurt your head. Never swim in deep areas if you cannot swim well. Remember: always wear a life jacket when you swim.
