Beth Brash is from New Zealand. Recently, something interesting happened to her. It all started when she visited her favorite Wellington restaurant and tried their new chicken dish. Unluckily, while eating it, she felt uncomfortable in her throat.
She thought the uncomfortable feeling would finally go away, so she didn’t argue with the restaurant owner. She fought through the pain the whole weekend. At last, she went to the hospital on Monday morning. She was told that she did in fact have a small piece of chicken bone (骨头) stuck in her throat, but the ENT [Ear, Nose and Throat] specialist (专家) told her that there was nothing serious.
Beth Brash was less worried when she learned that her situation wasn’t serious, but she still expected to take the bone out. The ENT specialist simply advised her to drink four cans of Coca-Cola to dissolve the piece of bone. She was surprised, but she went to the supermarket and bought four Cokes. To her surprise, she started feeling better the next morning, and by the following day, she was already back to normal.
Beth Brash thinks it’s amazing. She herself did an experiment, leaving chicken bones in Coke for a few days and watching them break down.
