Li Ziqi is a Chinese vlogger from the countryside in Sichuan Province. She is known for her traditional Chinese cooking skills as well as other artistic skills.
In Li’s early childhood, her parents ended their marriage and left her to live with her grandparents. Her grandfather used to cook in local ceremonies in the village. He encouraged her to improve her cooking skills.
When Li was in fifth grade, her grandfather died. Her grandmother began raising her on her own. Their life became harder. In 2004, to make a better living, Li moved to the city to work. Eight years later, she returned to her village because her grandmother had a health problem. She began enjoying the peaceful life in her village and decided to stay there.
However, Li always had a thought of improving the living standard of her family. So, she decided to do something new. She made videos of her everyday traditional cooking as well as artistic works. Li started posting short videos on Sina Weibo in 2016. She slowly gained a large following. In 2020, Li set a Guinness World Record for the most subscribers (订阅者) on a Chinese-language YouTube channel, with a total of 11.4 million followers at the time. However, she hasn’t posted any new videos since July 14, 2021. But her followers have been always waiting for her new videos.
On November 12, 2024, Li posted two videos online again and they quickly became a hot topic on the Internet.
