Darren Watkins Jr., a 22-year-old American YouTuber, called iShowSpeed, visited China. He livestreamed (直播) his trip to 37 million fans. His videos showed the real China, breaking some Western fixed ideas.
In Shanghai, he filmed the modern skyscrapers (摩天大楼) of Lujiazui. The square-dancing dama taught him yangge dances, and strangers gave him milk tea. In Beijing, he wore a colorful “Dongbei dahuaao” while visiting the Palace Museum. In Henan, he learned Shaolin Kung Fu. In Chengdu, he watched the face-changing Sichuan opera, tried ear cleaning, and drank tea in People’s Park.
China’s fast trains amazed viewers. Even in mountain tunnels, his livestream stayed smooth because of strong 5G. People saw him pay with his phone everywhere — street shops, subways, and buses.
Through simple videos, iShowSpeed showed China’s truth. Today’s youth trust phone cameras more than TV news. Real stories beat old lies.
