The next night, they saw many flying lights! After many tries, the monkeys caught a few. They put the lights into a hole in the ground. “Let’s blow to make the fire bigger!” said one monkey. They blew and blew, but nothing happened.
An owl watched them from a tree. “Those aren’t real fire! They’re just insects!” the owl called. The monkeys laughed. “You don’t know anything, old owl!” shouted a monkey. Midnight came, and the monkeys became tired. Finally, one monkey looked closely. “Oh no! These are just fireflies!” he said. The monkeys realized their mistake.
