Fourteen-year-old Cody Chalmers showed great honesty when he found a lost wallet full of money. His good choice led to an amazing surprise!
Cody was riding his bike near his house when he saw the wallet. Inside was about $300 cash, bank cards, health cards, and a driver’s license. Cody didn’t keep it. Instead, he used the Internet to find the owner. He returned everything to the woman, who had left the wallet on her car roof.
Cody’s mom, Carrie Ann, felt very proud. She shared Cody’s story on the Internet. She wrote, “I’m so happy to tell this good story about my son. He did the right thing all by himself.” She also mentioned Cody was saving money to buy an electric bike.
Many people in their city saw the post. A stranger named Adam Bailey read it and decided to reward (奖赏) Cody. He surprised Cody with a brand new e-bike! Cody had been saving for one just like it. Adam also told Cody, “Your honesty will take you far in life. That’s why I got this for you.”
Cody hopes other teens will learn from him. He says wisely, “Do the right thing, and good things will come back to you.”
