The 2025 World Games had a beautiful opening in Chengdu! The ceremony was full of exciting moments. Flying discs flew high in the sky, firing up everyone’s excitement. Over 500 young performers danced brightly on stage. Some danced alone, while children had fun dance battles together. Finally, they formed the Games’ special symbol: a huge letter “W”. Young singers and kids from many countries then sang the World Games’ theme song about friendship. As the song ended, amazing “Sacred Tree” fireworks lit up the night sky.
The show celebrated Chinese culture wonderfully. Dancers moved together perfectly on a ginkgo leaf-shaped stage, making it look alive under the moonlight. People saw three wonderful parts of Sichuan culture: performers changed colorful masks quickly, musicians played ancient instruments, and special dancing figures moved to the beat. The delegations’ guide signs were also special, made with famous local crafts like shiny Shu brocade, beautiful silver work, lovely Shu embroidery, and fine lacquer art.
Many famous Chinese athletes joined the event. When the song “Jasmine Flower” played, athletes Shi Jingwei and Guo Dan led Team China into the stadium. The crowd cheered loudly! Olympic champions Wang Shun and Pan Zhanle and others carried the Olympic flag seriously. People online loved their together moment a lot.
The most surprising part was lighting the main torch. Famous players Ding Junhui and Dong Dong first held a torch designed like bamboo. They passed the torch to water skiers Xu Lu and Alu Xiaobo. The skiers then rode across the water on motorboats and lit the main fire rising from the lake. Fire and water came together perfectly, showing how people everywhere are connected. Chengdu proved it’s a great place where sports bring the world together, creating new stories.
