When & Where
La Tomatina occurs on the last Wednesday of August. In 2025, it falls on August 27th. Though the tomato fight is iconic, it’s part of a week-long festival honoring the town’s patron saint, San Luis Beltrán. The battle begins around 11 a.m., but arrive early to witness the “palo jabón”—a greasy pole with a ham atop, where climbers compete before the chaos. The official start of the fight has to wait until someone manages to climb it.

Entry now requires advance tickets for safety. Limited spots sell out yearly, so book early via the official website or certified tour operators. Basic tickets start at €12, while packages often include transport from Valencia, plus extras like paella, sangria, or festival T-shirts.
