A young man had a special moment when he graduated from Harvard University, where he studied AI Governance and Tech Policy—a field about technology rules and future decisions. His girlfriend gave him a very meaningful gift: his father’s handwriting from over ten years ago.
It turned out that his girlfriend had found an old note written by his father and saved it for him. The note said: “Nothing is more satisfying than watching your educational talents grow. With love, Dad.” These words meant a lot to him, so the young man shared his story online.
His father didn’t finish high school. As a teenager in the American South, he left school to work on farms and help his family. Though he had little education himself, he taught his son to value learning and work hard in school.
Sadly, the father now has dementia. In the past five years, he lost much of his ability to speak clearly. Still, he came to his son’s graduation. “He couldn’t say much that day, but he was happy to see me,” the son explained. This made the graduation even more special.
The handwritten note isn’t just a memory.
