On August 27, a special dance group performed in Shanghai. Their dance was only 10 minutes long, but it was very beautiful. The dancers moved together perfectly and put all their heart into it. Their performance even made many in the audience cry. What made it so special? All the dancers are, in fact, deaf. They cannot hear the music.

The dancers are from the Walawala Deaf People’s Dance Group. The group was started by Yu Qinxin, a dance teacher. Many dancers in the group were her students before. They love dancing because it brings them joy and confidence. They are like a big family.

It took them four years to create this short piece. The biggest difficulty was following the beat of the music. They couldn’t hear it. Their teacher, Huang Fei, said they had to find other ways. They tried to feel the vibration (震动) from the floor and see special lights. They practiced a lot to feel the rhythm inside their hearts. 

Their hard work has paid off. People love their performance. This dance shows everyone that with heart and practice, you can do amazing things.
