Ceschi was born in 1993 in Italy. In 2014, he was sent to China as a sports ____1____ to cover the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing.
“During the ____2____ of my reporting work, I would walk around the Olympic Village, where I met many ____3____. They left a very positive impression (印象) on me. I felt that they were very interested in the world,” Ceschi said.
To Ceschi, these volunteers presented a real picture of China, as he later wrote in his book: “____4____ there are cultural differences, we can understand each other, and grow together. Cooperating with the volunteers made me feel that China is a society willing to connect with the world and be a ____5____ part of the global (全球的) village.”
This ____6____ in Nanjing started his love for China. In the summer of 2016, ____7____ after graduating from university, Ceschi decided to move from Rome to Beijing. He learned Chinese rapidly and began writing about his experiences in Chinese.
In his book Dreaming in Chinese, he said, “In the large land of China, I have experienced a colorful and impressive life.” In Sichuan, he ____8____ the freezing winter and dialects (方言); in Shanghai, he joined a Chinese writing club. He even took a high-speed train from Beijing to Shenzhen to ____9____ the sunset in a park.
“I love this country. People here seemed to have endless energy, and I was inspired and ____10____ by this force,” Ceschi wrote in his book.
