
China uses colors for weather warnings. Red is the most serious. Then come orange, yellow, and blue. Yellow means hot weather. Last Sunday, China’s weather experts warned people about very hot weather. They repeated a yellow alert for high temperatures in many places.
On Monday, it was very hot in many areas. Those included Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, and Xinjiang. Temperatures went above 35 degrees Celsius. In some of these places, it was hotter. Temperatures reached 37 to 39 degrees Celsius. A few local areas saw temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius!
The weather center told people to protect themselves from the strong sun. Beijing is very hot right now. The city warns people to be careful and stay cool. The yellow alert started last Friday afternoon. Experts say the hot weather will continue this week. The government advises people to:
·Stay indoors as much as possible.
·Drink plenty of water.
·Outdoor workers should change their work times to avoid the hottest hours.
·Use electricity safely to prevent fires.
Parents must watch their children closely. Kids might go into rivers or lakes to cool off, but this can be dangerous and cause drowning.
